The Process

Golden Spirit works in a specialized method of metal craftsmanship and gold finishing practiced by only a small number of studios worldwide. Every piece is finished with real 24K gold and, on select models, 925 sterling silver.

The work begins in metal. Each design is drawn, cut, and formed into its finished shape, with the detail worked directly into the material rather than printed onto it. This is the stage that determines whether a piece has depth, and it is the slowest part of the process.

The formed metal then goes through the gold finishing stage. Layers are applied by hand rather than by bulk coating, which is what gives the surface its variation in depth and the way it holds light differently across a single piece.

Each finished piece is then set on a velvet field, which darkens the space behind the gold and lifts it forward, before being framed in one of our four finishes.

The result is a work in metal and gold that reads differently depending on where the light falls, and that holds up to close inspection as well as it does across a room.
